Styling hair without damaging it

1. Oil as a Protective Layer
-
When you lightly oil your hair before styling, the oil coats the hair shaft.
-
This thin layer reduces friction during combing, braiding, or tying, preventing hair breakage.
-
It also protects hair from heat if you’re using mild blow-drying (though not a heavy heat protectant like synthetic sprays).
2. Flexible, Hydrated Strands
-
Well-oiled hair is more flexible and elastic. Dry hair snaps easily when styled, but oiled hair bends and holds styles better without cracking the cuticle.
3. Less Frizz, More Shine
-
A little oil smooths the hair cuticle, so hairstyles like braids, buns, ponytails, or even soft curls look sleeker and shinier naturally — without needing chemical serums.
4. Pre-Styling Ritual (Light Oiling)
-
Use a few drops (not a heavy amount) of a light oil (like argan, jojoba, or a thin Ayurvedic oil).
-
Rub it between your palms and smooth it gently over damp or dry hair, especially focusing on the ends.
-
Then style as usual — braid, tie, twist, etc.
🔹 Important Tip:
Use very little oil if you are styling immediately. Heavy oiling is better done overnight or when you’re not styling afterward (like deep treatments).
